I am so sorry for your loss, Nicholas. That's terrible.
Your "labour of love" that is your sweet home will hopefully help you feel surrounded by thoughts of your wife, and the good times that you have shared together.
I'm so sorry that you are going through this. My deepest sympathy.

Happy 100th birthday, house!!

Thank you all for the condolences and kind words, its going to take some time for me, but I am working on it, thankfully I have my 3 daughters to help as we work through this together.

So I will peek in here now and then but when I am back into house mode, I hope to join back in the conversations.

Nicholas I am so sorry to hear of your wife's passing; that was so quick. I lost my wife a year ago after 42 years and I miss her every day. I am sure your bumble bee house will keep you in good stead. Please keep us posted on your progress. Don

Wow Don I had no idea, and I am sorry to hear of your loss. Yes it was quick, and we suspected something wasn't right for over a year, but my saint of a wife was more interested in caring for everybody else.

Well, thanks to all again, I am hoping to move on, in this venue anyway.

The good news is that we bought one of the worst houses in a decent area, made it a jewel and the comps have pushed up the value a decent amount in one year above what we invested. Every house that is sold here is renovated, there is a restoration of a house built in 1924 going on right now a block away. The skinny lot across the street was just sold to an investor, and a brand new home should be going up soon, this will also add value.

So it is comforting to know we made a good choice, and when I think back to some of what we were considering, I am like so glad we grabbed this one.
