Notice almost all of the colonial and Geargan homes have the door to one side, only thing is between the door and the outer wall they almost always had a window.

I have never heard of the New Brunswick influence that you mentioned... would that really effect the architecture in Ontario?
The more I research my house, the more it looks like the first two owners never even lived here, that it was bought (and possibly built) as an investment. Not only is it one of the only all-stucco homes in the neighbourhood, but it's also one of the only houses here that I've seen with trim throughout the house being originally painted (confirmed this through stripping the paint to the bare raw wood). All my neighbour's houses have stained/shellacked trim, windows, and accents. My house is a bit of a black sheep around here, it seems.

JJet, I believe if I did the same search for colonial Quebec houses I would see many with the same side door treatment. As far as influencing Ontario revivals it might not have been a great influence, or any influence at all, I was just speculating.
The maritimes have all sort of quirky things in thier early home designs, many regional. In Shurebrook, many of the old homes have bays that go from ground to roof. The bottom part acts as a vestibule of sorts and the door opens at the side of the bay. Lunenburg has something called a Lunenburg bump. It's an extended dormer in the roof that hangs out over eaves.

Just wanted to post an update here...
We've been busy! Over the last month, my husband (with the help of a wonderful neighbour) has dug up the original walkway to the house (it was buried about 10 years ago, I can only guess to "modernize" the look of the exterior?). After that, we removed the crappy vinyl shutters (good riddance!), and this week we had the house repainted to a dark grey (was formerly a pastel blue). Just wanted to share the before and after photos!
Next on the list- the roof!

It would be a shame if those fake vinyl shutters were the result of a previous owner throwing out the originals.

Actually, the house never had shutters originally. I have a fair amount of old photos of the house, and the windows were always shutterless. The vinyl ones were put on somewhere around 2006-2008 by a PO who was a decorator.
