Great to see those windows still even exist! I could get so excited for you to remove all the vinyl junk around them although I know it's not in the cards right now. Best of luck to you completing your more immediate improvements. Nice to see a Garrison Colonial.

I was considering taking small steps to see what's under the vinyl. Something like removing the vinyl from the overhang to expose the bead board there. Someone removed the ornamental pendant things when they sided too.

Here are a couple of old photos of the outside of our home:

And one photo with aluminum siding. Looking at this photo, the aluminum siding installers left the ornaments and original light in place. The vinyl siding installers must have removed them.

Oh, I wish! That belonged to Jim, he said it was his pride and joy. They were the first family to live in the house. I think I am owner number 3

 Interesting they removed the aluminum & put up vinyl. I suppose they were told "vinyl is final" because the aluminum needed painting---crazy! :-o

Boy the bushes went nuts!

Welcome to the District mkeller234

I remember your rear porch and the clever use of screen doors, great job.

You have a pair of nice homes! Our boys would love sledding down the bungalow's driveway.

Work continues on the back porch. I scrapped, patched, caulked and painted the siding, door and ceiling over the weekend. It was a lot of work, but I am happy with the results. I cleaned up the brass door hardware while I had it removed.

This spring I started to stain everything:

Here the panels are just set where the belong:

The view from our porch:

Plywood ceiling that was under the vinyl:

Close up of the siding showing the gaps that needed caulked:

Two holes in the siding were filled with a dowel, caulked and painted:

All painted. I need to clean up the window panes, pick out a new light and finish some trim work.
