Screens are all tacked into place. My dad has made some trim out of treated wood that we will begin to install shortly.

Looks good!

IMO, your house is from that gray area between old and modern, and it's features like this that help it stand out even more.

Yeah, being built in 1940 it's definitely not as ornate as homes built just 10-15 years ahead of it. It's also a colonial-revival so I think that "plain" is part of the style. We didn't buy this home because we totally loved the structure, the neighborhood and yard size were the real attraction. Even so, it's grown on me a lot, especially after speaking to the family who originally had it built.

I think I see a porch swing.

This is a beautiful screened-in porch. I have one of my own, or I would be envying you too, too much.
