Re: For those with A&C homes, Morris company

https://archive.org/details/SpecimensOfFurnitureAndInteriorDecorationMorrisAndCompanyDecorators/mode/2up Interesting to see the furniture of Arts and Crafts design in England. Much fancier that anything I have seen compared to the designs on this side of the pond. I spotted a few pieces that even l...

Re: Some thing to look at with your morning tea

so It is a carriage shed. And attached to the home. It would make sense, there would have been a small pasture to that side of the house. Drive into the shed, unhitch the horse and send it on into the pasture. Above the shed would be hay storage, thus the double barn doors.. I have seen homes of th...

Re: Some thing to look at with your morning tea

Both those homes have survived intact, that’s great to hear. In the first picture, the home has a what looks to be a side entrance set back on the left. Access to the kitchen or a mother in-law wing? I was wondering about that myself. It looks like there's a ramp going up to it and a double-doored ...

Re: Some thing to look at with your morning tea

that a beautiful house and you were kind to go out of your way in their interest. sometimes I pick up free thigns on craigslist. I once went to a house only to realize my mom and dad had owned and lifted it back in the 50's when they just got married. I found the bill of sale , it went from about 5...

Re: Some thing to look at with your morning tea

The new owner is a contractor and have already repaired most of the plaster using plaster washers, so I count that as a win for the house. At the moment they are using it as a weekend house, but are planning to transition here full time, that's about all I know so far. It could be a real showstopper

Re: Some thing to look at with your morning tea

I used to be able to do some fairly pointed searches and uncover a lot of data from the internet, but as times changed and large corporations took control of how the web and browsers work, I find myself frustrated because the results often point to ads or websites that need confirmations to sign in...

Re: kitchen pullout taps

The plastic tub idea is a good one. Our kitchen is new , but eventually things start to fail or as we found out brand new items like our dishwasher shutoff fail in the middle of the night. Thanks Phil for the idea.

Re: Organization help needed.

I tend to put site names/links in a Word file or in my case Open Office, then convert to a PDF. I have tons of files for garden, kitchen, bath, old house ideas, old house repair ideas going back more than a decade. I have folders on the desktop. I do need to put them into one folder for house as it'...

Re: A question for GibsonGM or any one else

I'm a bit of a paint freak, so the Emerald paint caught my attention. It sounds a bit like my favorite Aura paint by Benjamin Moore. I have had great results using Penetrol and turpentine mixed 50/50 as an under coat, then oil primer finally a top coat of Aura. I am not a pro like Gibson, just some ...
