as a traditional window restoration specialist, I say "Gaaaaah!'... first off, anyone who refers to the meeting rail and hardware as 'these things' automatically looses a few points with me... I would NOT remove wood from the sash to add glass or weather stripping...air leakage comes in around ...

living in a house with paint that contains lead or living next to a field that is sprayed with round-up, i'd choose the paint... until 1978, gasoline contained lead and the emission standards for vehicles weren't nearly as stringent as they are now...we all breathed in lead fumes for decades and did...

A: absolutely, positively NO.... B: the sash are simple and lovely and so worth saving...why take a defining character of your house and toss it in the trash? you don't need to remove ALL the paint... scrape, sand, apply blopentine to bare wood, prime and paint...you don't even HAVE to reputty thoug...

quite an informative video for interlocking weather strip...it's an excellent product and does its job well for a long period of time...when I find it on sash that I will be removing for restoration, I reuse it... a couple of things I take issue with...there's a lot of labor involved with interlocki...

each bench in my shop has a used one gallon paint can half full (not half empty!) with water...
there is a paint stick next to each can...deposit rags/papertowel, use stick to submerge rag and
cover....
spreading out rags to dry used to keep me up at night...
