Re: Hurricane Florence
Just posted a live video over on my Instagram account. The rains are starting a little bit in my area and the wind gusts are picking up, but so far nothing too bad. The folks out east are really having it bad. Thoughts and prayers appreciated for my fellow Tar Heels!

To give y'all an idea of the current situation here in the Tar Heel State, specifically the "Triad" region I am in (Greensboro/Winston-Salem/High Point): https://i0.wp.com/www.fullredneck.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/Funny-Florida-Meme-16.jpg https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9...

Re: Hurricane Florence
I hope you find solid shelter and don't take risks to post vids southernlady. It sounds pretty serious. You are worth more than any house or material possession. Don't worry, I had my fill of risks with tropical storms/hurricanes in September/October 2010. I had a conference in Myrtle Beach, SC, fo...

Yeah, yeah, tornado, locust tree, sump pump, chimney, etc. What we really want to know is - was your grandma's hair OK? Haha, yes, her hair was fine. I’ve moved most of my things from my living room to a storage barn in preparation for minor flooding. We are now getting the “fingers” or “spin-off” ...

Re: Hurricane Florence
I vaguely remember Hurricane Hugo, which passed through when I was a little tot. My family and I survived a tornado that hit my grandparents' farm. We were in their 1790s log house, arguing with my grandmother that we needed to leave that house for the one next door that had a full basement. She was...

I LOVE that episode! I wish we still had stuff of that quality on TV nowadays. That woman is a genius of comedy.

Re: Circa 1884 McCuiston House
It's wonderful that you're keeping those traditions alive; they're well worth it. I'd like to know more about my own Scotch-Irish forebears, other than vague references to Nova Scotia. When I'm in the Southeast U.S., I keep bumping into people who look like they could be relatives - and nobody miss...

Re: Circa 1884 McCuiston House
From the perspective of Charleston, Savannah and Mobile, North Carolina might as well be the Hudson Bay. That be true, but my strain of kin be the Scotch-Irish from the Appalachian Foothills, which are a very unique folk, mixed with descendants of the early plantation holders of Virginia. We hug to...
