Re: What I did at my house today...

Re: Turpentine alternative

Buy her a fan. Our carriage house is a shared studio/shop space. My wife has her studio for art and I have a shop for welding, woodworking or whatever kind of mischief I feel like getting into. Sometimes I use some pretty stinky stuff in there. I have learned to have the exhaust fan on most all the...

duct work.jpg Well everything was going so well until Saturday night, actually Sunday morning around 12:30am. My wife came in from our carriage house and office to find the kitchen flooded. The shutoff for the dishwasher letgo, then ran for 2-1/2 hours(guessing). She woke me up I shut off the water...

Re: Craftsman Kitchen Renovation Beginnings

I wonder if a fake owl would work? I know they can be used to deter woodpeckers and some other critters. But definitely not as cute as Stewie! The plexiglass storm window has changed the reflection enough that there has been no bird strikes since it was installed. I even moved a feeder near the win...

Re: Craftsman Kitchen Renovation Beginnings

what a beautiful Cat. Stewie has job security:-) The cabinets and the kitchen look so nice. Very high end. I built mine with my dad, he was a cabinetmaker , then a carpenter and the resulting design of the cabinets look similar. He showed me some older techniques while he still could which I am gra...

Re: Craftsman Kitchen Renovation Beginnings

I wonder if something that looked like a cat were on the window sill, would that deter birds? Since we have counters now, we also have a cat who enjoys counter surfing. Those excursions on the counters includes watching birds. Stewie is not far off from your example. stewie2.jpg Everything is now o...

Re: What is your interior design philosophy?

We've moved to several antiques houses over the years 1809,1840 and 1903. The craftsman bungalow we are in now is my new passion, so to speak. We drag the same furniture and associated artifacts with us to each new house. We do decorated the rooms paint wise to match the time frame, but have only a...

Re: What is your interior design philosophy?

The funny thing about buying and making the house into what you really wanted was actually something we almost backed ourselves into with 42 (the first old house we sought to buy). It was absolutely no bones about it a Cape, and during all the back and forth time with the Fannie Mae realtor, I star...
