Re: Sewer backed up while we vacationed!
I can always ask. The water dept. has no intention of letting me off the hook. I used $83.00 worth of water in 30 days. It will be interesting to see the next bill, though. Four days of that month might have had excessive "use" because we were still on vacation, though nothing was running ...

Re: found a new smell
Haha Raine, it is not funny over here. I have an entire thread on water in my basement, a moldy smell, and a theory on a sewer backup. We torn apart an entire bathroom. The TV room/spare bedroom is gone, as is the store-room. Man, I miss those spaces. An entire of floor of stuff came upstairs to liv...

Re: Living In A Railroad Town
Daughter of a railroader, here. Dad had 32 years in before retirement. My hometown was a railroad town and many of my friends had dads on the railroad. I love the sound.

Re: Sewer backed up while we vacationed!
New developments and some dirty talk. It turns out that we are not dealing with a sewer backup at all but rather a malfunctioning toilet that ran on and on while we vacationed. We did not come across actual "sewage" complete with bits of toilet paper and such. It was just water that spread...

Re: The devil is in the details, or not.
Do you buy antiques and then find spots for them, or the other way around? Serendipity or planned purchases? I have to have all the answers--do I have a spot for this? do I have the money for this? do I like the looks of this? does this fit into the period of my house? did I always want one of these...

I enjoyed the tour, also. That screened porch would have sold me, too.

Re: Sewer backed up while we vacationed!
It seems that we do not have homeowners coverage for this sewer back-up. The roots we found were not very big. That ruled out using insurance. I talked to the city director of public works to see if a truck was sent to my neighborhood. Nothing. Any problems would have been called-in. That ruled out ...
