the light looks Chrome to my eye. Chrome plating was not invented until the 1920s - it doesn't wear so easily as nickel so your wear spots may point to it being the softer metal. Hold it side by side with known chrome and the difference should jump out. I have all nickel in my bathroom - I love it b...

Go for the more expensive version of the repros, they have a more authentic "snap". I have been using repro push buttons for over 10 years no problems at all over half my house has them now. Find good (or new old stock) fac eplates on ebay (often cheaper than repro, and way more authentic)...
