Yep, you see a lot of those empty posts. I always think that would drive me crazy, myself.. I love things to be symmetrical.

Re: Century House Inspections

I can not stress enough having someone inspect the sewage and water lines. A lot of lines need to be replaced in older homes and this could be a major expense.

Re: My First Home -a 1924 Bungalow in Lincoln, Nebraska

Thanks Nicholas. You know, the more I get into it the more I just think of my house as just 'a bungalow' and not necessarily even Craftsman. Re: 7 Inches of Rain! And a wet basement.

Another job of an old house - a wet basement, eh? Sounds like you have a lovely spring! Yes, I think I'll try a drain pipe there. That was one of my first ideas - thanks for reinforcing it! I have a gabled roof so only have gutters on the west and east sides so can't do much about that. Unfortunatel...

The South side. I may need to remove the sidewalk to fix the issue - there's not much space to work with. http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o565/sarapalu/FE0AE050-C748-428C-8340-68C7CDF20CFE_zps5hyxvmni.jpg The damage.. http://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o565/sarapalu/FA97C7CE-75CD-4DD5-9975-AE0D...

7 Inches of Rain! And a wet basement.

So the midwest got dumped on last night! Which was incredibly fun to listen to throughout the night - but it took it's toll on the south wall of my basement. I had some water seeping: in my original basement windows (solution: weather stripping/spring bronze?) in some of the cracks in the foundation...

Re: My First Home -a 1924 Bungalow in Lincoln, Nebraska

Hi, I like your bungalow. The colonnade and built-ins are super. I noticed that the one side has a solid drop-down top section; is this a built-in writing desk by any chance? That would be so amazing, unexpected and useful. Casey It is a writing desk! From what I can tell about my area this is pret...
