Re: Jumping and hoping. Jen's kitchen cabinet adventure.

Hi all....thank you for all the kind comments. Sorry, has been a crazy, busy week at work. Lily, I almost cried when they towed the piano away. There are very few makes that are worth the investment to rebuild…and Ivers & Pond is a rare bird. I searched for a year for and I&P grand. And now,...

Re: Jumping and hoping. Jen's kitchen cabinet adventure.

Hi all, yes hot soapy water and some goo gone seems to be doing the trick without damaging the wood. I tried to remove a big blob of paint with goo gone, and it definitely lightened up the shellac in one spot. Wondering if I should just leave the paint until the cabinetmaker goes at it? UnpaintedDoo...

Re: Jumping and hoping. Jen's kitchen cabinet adventure.

Thanks all. I admit, I'm pretty excited. I sorta did like the cross hatching on the face of the upper cabinets (in the MN find) but I certainly like this set better. I am not sure I can get a plumber out on such short notice. It's a live gas line (gas dryer) so I may just have to stack just that 1 p...

Re: Jumping and hoping. Jen's kitchen cabinet adventure.

Hi Skip Hope all is well with you and yours in Maine. Yep, back at it again. From what the antique dealer told me, each 48" set is 250 pounds. The frames are solid oak. I hadn't thought about putting them (or some) on the perimeter of the house. That's a great idea. If only one of the bedrooms ...

Jumping and hoping. Jen's kitchen cabinet adventure.

Okay, I am going to hopefully not jinx the gods, but I need the board's collective help, so I'm going to let the cat out of the bag. For you OHW and WG'ers, you know the story and can skip the rest of this paragraph. In rebuilding Smelly, I wanted to find a somewhat period appropriate kitchen and ha...

Re: Old Appliances (was "When chatting with strangers...")

JacquieJet, That stove is a hoot! Thanks for sharing. We grew up with that exact stove, but in olive green. I still remember being fascinated by a cooktop that pulled out. Well, that and rolling the dishwasher across the room to hook it up to the sink. Olson185, how do you like your Chambers? I admi...

Re: Beebe -- our 1935 Bungalow on Baker Street.

Congrats. What an adorable house. I have the exact same stairway, only 80 miles away. And those kitchen cabinets. (swoon). And that built in (double swoon). And the tiny linen closet (triple swoon).

I need to stop before I faint.

Many happy returns in your new home!
