Re: Remember the Granville house?

Gransville, your fire place got me thinking, I've seen some thing very similar before. The three ornaments set me off. Have a look at this m Now add embellishment like off this mantle. m It would seem you have a Charles McKintosh inspired fire place. Now I think that's some thing special. Just type ...

Re: Remember the Granville house?

Gezzzzzz, what great detail. The fire place should stay exactly as it is. The butlers sink should be oval, a compromise between round and square. No one loses and no one wins, every one happy.

http://i1075.photobucket.com/albums/w436/ronm2/e52b4cb5.jpg A closer look at our Edison. Another great find in the corner picture are the curtain pulls. I found them in Lock Haven Pennsylvania area. I found my self with a slack day on one of my working trips between job done and flight home. So off...

Re: Hi everybody

Welcome Shemcreek, never mind the large court. The home is protected by a rather large canon.

Re: Period furnishing for our period homes

Neighmond, I have never seen one to compare. It has a 1/4 inch square hole for a threaded rod and may have had a knurled knob or a small wingnut. Either way, yes it holds the horn and wouLd allow for a bit of adjustment for needle weight. I could make one with no real fuss (I really don't know why I...

Re: Taking down the chimney...

Our home originally had two chimneys. Really tall with a fancy top. One has been taken down to just above the roof peek. The other one is still standing but about half of the fancy top was been removed. Being up there a few summers ago during the furnace install I did an inspection, the top two laye...

Re: test, test. This is a test of the emergency home pic syst

Thanks josh, if I recal you posted a few pics of your great house on the OHW. I am really impressed with your home. A large wrap around porch would be great but alas large porches were not common on Gothics. Having not found a period picture of our home and no obvious signs of there ever being one I...

Re: Period furnishing for our period homes

Once again, found the Edison at an out of the way antique store. It is unrestored and works great. I had to instal a new belt and the rubber tube connecting the horn other than that it's almost plug and play as the saying goes now. It does have one issue though maybe Neighmond can help with. The rod...

http://i1075.photobucket.com/albums/w436/ronm2/c90009aedf6247dfae6133f7ee2ef245.jpg Here is the bathroom the bath tub is behind the picture taker. It was installed as the first plumbing of the home. The sink I've been told might be the original sink as installed a hundred years ago. The green tile ...
