Hold up a sec; I meant to say the filler goes under the final coat of shellac; after all the stain and the first coats of shellac are laid down.

I built my first pair of doors with a table saw and a jointer. I cut the mortises by hand.

Colored wax filler in the cracks (get the white paint out now) before the last coat of shellac.

I have many concerns about different insulation schemes imposed on old houses. Look at what the heating and moisture profile was when these houses were built. Weekly baths, not daily showers.
