Re: 1870 CT house-works in progress

I love the color on your floors. Of course, I'm not biased. Coincidentally, we used "Espresso" on the floors for our (in-progress) remodeling project. See the "Retriever Ridge" thread over in Intros. Haha thanks so much! I went to the post to see and unfortunately those two pictures of the floors a...

Re: Retriever Ridge

SWMBO wanted a gas fireplace in the owner's suite. Being able to start/stop a fire with a touch of a button has its appeal. Re: Are Forums a dying thing?

My excuses are myriad...I was busy with work (as are many of us), I cared for elderly parents (many of us care for parents or children), money was tight (oh yeah, I'm not the only one!), or time was short (yeah, yeah...I see everyone rolling their eyes). I wasn't working on the house, so my forum a...

Re: Retriever Ridge

The framers had an easy time of it because it was engineered off site and came as a "kit". The trick was planning far enough ahead because the trusses had to be engineered to accommodate it. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pw/AM-JKLVxIuULl1CEiXgT_5wE_s6KfqLDvYbvmCPZ4AXzKaCqDB72GpDyHuuNyA3PQOfwM1ei...

Re: Retriever Ridge

The perspective of the photo is a little deceiving. The dome is pretty much in the center of the room which puts it roughly at the foot of the bed. So not a lot of additional thought went into choosing the location. The reason for a dome was to get enough ceiling height to be able to use the chandel...
