Re: Sarco alternatives
You'd think someone in the hardware industry would see the value in distributing this brand of putty in Canada (I had the same DAP experience as you - blubbing, drooping putty when I moved the sash). I'll start hassling my local hardware stores. Something else I have been unable to find anywhere is ...

Re: Sarco alternatives
[quote="Sinoed"]Thanks for the suggestions. I checked into the U.S. websites and while the initial cost isn't too bad the shipping kills it. One small tub of Sarco is $39.95 + shipping to Canada of $60 usd. With an exchange rate of 1.35 this turns into $135 Can plus taxes of 13% and whatev...

Re: Beautiful Period Inspired Pillowcases
I learned to hand embroider pillow cases from my grandma. Not something I do anymore, but no reason not to. She would also personalize all types of fabrics by adding crochet trim- table cloths, aprons, towels, dish cloths ... I too look forward to a time when I'm thinking about decorating touches on...

Re: HVAC recommendation?
Thanks for everyone's thoughts. I went with the simplest solution - ducting from my original forced air furnace. I'll add in-floor heat and two electric wall heaters in the upstairs bathroom and closet. Last week the majority of the HVAC and plumbing went in and I think it is done. Electrical this w...

Re: HVAC recommendation?
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I looked into ducted mini splits and hi-velocity and will discuss both with the HVAC folks when I see them (in the ongoing ridiculousness of this renovation, they were supposed to start work on Monday and did not show up). The mini-splits are not common here and I ...

Re: HVAC recommendation?
LoL, problem may have resolved itself to some degree as this afternoon the furnace motor stopped working (it's been running for a month and a half straight, to keep up with the cold and my renovation-exposed house).

HVAC recommendation?
The two story addition on my 1912 foursquare is finally coming to the point where plumbing/electric/hvac is going in. Quite suddenly the builder proposed some new ideas for hvac, and now I have to think it through for a decision on Monday. I'm wondering if anyone here can assist with some ideas or o...

What do I need for window hardware?
I'm coming close to being done with refinishing my window sashes. Some of the windows I refinished had hardware bits on them, but most didn't. So, I'll have to purchase new. What I'm looking for is advice on what I need, the quality I should look for, and suggestions on where to get it. My windows a...
