Re: What's happening in your garden?
James, does it count if I like to look at, but not smell, certain flowers? I don't know what the scientific name for them is, but the ubiquitous "Easter" lilies that are placed in churches are absolutely nasty-smelling! I can't bear to be in the same room with them. As long as they're outs...

I also had a volunteer sunflower at the side of my house! I've never had one anywhere. Funny that we would both have had one this year.

Re: What I did at my house today...
Thank you, James. I appreciate you, too. Lily, Michael is an incredibly hard worker, and wants to learn from me, which I think is hilarious. I worked on the house we built the entire time he and my daughter were growing up, and neither had any interest in learning how to do any of it, or helping me ...

Re: Beebe -- our 1935 Bungalow on Baker Street.
I know what you mean about painting. We built a house in the 80s and Bill didn't want me to paint walls any color but white, because "we have so much wood, so we need the contrast." After many years, I was going mad without any color, and I knew he wouldn't agree to any of the paint chips ...

Sorry for the double post. It wouldn't go the first time, and then it went twice.

Re: What I did at my house today...
Yes, it was a good visit with James. One of the last things on my list was a huge one. The little room off the living room used to be a porch but was closed in many years ago. I added an HVAC duct to the room so that it is now technically a bedroom, but since it was a porch, it never had ANY insulat...

James, I don't know if you are aware of why behind the whistling history, so I'll share. Early on, rigging was done by sailors that used whistles to communicate. So if you randomly whistled, you could wind up with a sandbag on your head (or worse!) At first I thought you put the plywood inside (whi...

Re: stuck at home with Corona virus?
Tennessee's governor has steadfastly refused to institute a mask mandate, but he did give authority last week to county mayors to institute their own, since our rate has spiked. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are in the neighboring county to us, and they just made the top 5 list for the fastest growing...

Re: What I did at my house today...
Pretty soon I've got to make a run up to Connecticut to take care of some things so my concern at the moment is securing the house, even though this neighborhood is known for being safe and my neighbors are great about keeping an eye out. Nevertheless, I feel that the big shed/studio/summer kitchen...
