Re: weird things in attics

Ireland House - Sorry to send you on an attic excursion to gather info, but sure do appreciate it!! I've read good & bad reviews on many models - thinking like you, perhaps the unsuccessful ones weren't properly placed / used. I'm certainly going to give the Attack Wave a go -- nothing ventured...

Willa - just love your new paint colors! Such an improvement from the PO's color scheme. Did you strip the trim or paint it another color?

Re: Let's talk about...heat guns

Lily don't know what project you have in mind for the heat gun, but you will find lots of way to use it once you have one. It is our most used tool at the moment (going on weeks now). I recommend you look for a model that has variable heat setting as well as low & high fan speeds. I think they a...

..... we discovered that the sonic squeakers we bought to chase the bats killed all the wasps. Also got rid of all but the occasional bat. I'd love to know the brand / model or any info about your sonic squeakers. We have wasps upon wasps - I'm willing to try almost anything before resorting to che...

Re: Old Appliances (was "When chatting with strangers...")

Your Wedgewood stove will be most excellent after the stove hospital. It is excellent right now. With the antique drainboard sink - easy with the drain assembly as the correct ones can be terribly hard to find (in my recent experience). That round fridge ? Icebox ? is really something. Thanks for t...

Re: Old Appliances (was "When chatting with strangers...")

Since the sink legs won't be at eye level, you should be able to get away with using an epoxy enamel on them. If there are any deeply chipped areas, I would fill them before sanding, priming, and painting. That stove is going to look like a million bucks when it's done. I'm surprised to hear it's a...

Re: Paint stripping cast cement

Nailing cement mouldings to a wooden house is... interesting. I though we were talking brick here! In that case I'd second the recommendation of screws with soft washers. Oh interesting indeed. The more we dig into the house, the more stumped I am. Some days I really wish it were a brick house, the...

...purposefully designed so as not to pinch / strain the brittle material by the look of it. I might be tempted to do something to close off that gap behind the trim - even if it were just stapling tyvek there - to help stop drafts and insects etc Thanks for explaining the "mechanics" of ...
