It depends on where you are. It doesn't in Texas. Sadly, it didn't when this house was built either, but they did it anyway.

Also, most roof warranties specify decking suitability...and 3/8ths ain't it.

We have the mini-splits at the Old Vic...although we went with the "hideous wall mounted air handlers" because of efficiency and cost. We are highly pleased. Easily 1/3 the utilities (heating AND cooling), dead silent, takes the humidity out so much better than the windows-shakers...and ou...

Now hit it with 50/50 turpentine and boiled lindseed oil...till it won't absorb anymore...and usually they have nuts you can tighten if it's still loose!

Newel post lamp...

Newel post lamp for the Old Vic...a Christmas present from my Mom. The lamp and shade as best as I can tell, have no hallmarks. It will be about 1930's vintage...as it was originally/always electric. The house it came from was considerably older (Old Vic vintage). It was a house Mom owned in the 80'...
