my house had no white, but the gutter installers used white. I didnt think so hard about it when I painted my stairs railings white. an across the street neighbor asked me to paint them another color and painted out that nothing else is white and it's actually just making the gutters stand out more ...

the silk covered cord probably dates it to the 20's wrinkle paint would look good on that thing. they made a radio lamp like that It was made by "mitchell " called the lullaby lamp I think.. porch picket saga continues..

I had set aside some full dimension lumber ( fir) to make pickets for my porch. I still have more to cut but I made about 60 posts all tapered 4 sides from 2" down to 1.5" I round cornered them all and sanded them on my table sander.. it was a lot of wood cutting. i cut all the tapers on my tablesaw...

I had set aside some full dimension lumber ( fir) to make pickets for my porch. I still have more to cut but I made about 60 posts all tapered 4 sides from 2" down to 1.5" I round cornered them all and sanded them on my table sander.. it was a lot of wood cutting. i cut all the tapers on my tablesaw...

I managed to get a toilet bowl that is designed to use a wall mounted tank, the inlet is in the back rather than the top. I cleaned it all up with CLR and that removed some calcium from the bottom of the bowl. the pipe between has a bend and it's chrome or maybe nickle plated but quite rusty so I do...

prices are crazy out here and a lot of the boomers moved to the interior and that drove the price of the more affordable ones out of the lower mainland up too. The interest rate just got increased to try to slow the market so I guess we will wait and see how that affects things. gas prices are also ...

I'ts probably about an average price for a single family dwelling here, They have really been shooting up. Our pesos just don't buy what they used to.

are the rafters 2x4 or 2x6 or? You might consider ISO board, more R value and I think you might be able to place them between the rafters allowing airspace for the roof to cool. If the roof runs hot the roofing life is reduced but you have a metal roof so it might not be as important, I doubt a metl...
