Re: A New/Old Addition for the Stone House
Hi old housers. We're still here...afixin' and alivin'. Soooo...still have stacks of hewn log beside my driveway. We took down another log house to augment missing materials. However, as I'd mentioned earlier, the addition got complicated with the building dept. They don't share our faith in the old...

Hey all....it's been a while I think. At least two dead laptops ago. Just an update from around here... I'm a Grandma now, with a 5 month old grand daughter. Covid times have limited our contact with her and our son and DIL. But recently we've been able to interact and it's so sweet. Our house addit...

Re: A New/Old Addition for the Stone House
Hey all. Just checking in. We got our drawings from the engineer firm. We will have to go over them with them soon, cuz they spec'd a slab foundation, which we were told wasn't possible attached to a below-frost-line footing full foundation. A few other errors in it, enough to make me want to go ove...

That last bit of atmosphere trapped by the closing of the can will do that. You can buy aerosol sprays that will vacate the gasses in a can just before you close it. I know the frustration, trust me. Every time I close up my gold size (adhesive) I get the skin. I have paint strainers to remedy it. Y...

Ha ha...not quite. Re the addition; we finally got the drawings sent to us. They will need some changes, but at least now we can apply for the permit.

Hi folks. I thought I'd share a rare bit of good luck I enjoyed while dismantling the log house. I picked a chain out of the dirt, and at first glance it looked like costume jewelry. I tossed it in a cupboard for a few months and only pulled it out because I remembered it had a little clip on it tha...
