A New/Old Addition for the Stone House
Hi Old Housers. I'm not sure I have a thread about my little stone house in HD. I think I started one in Wavy Glass. Anyway, since we have embarked on a new building adventure with old logs, I figured I'd start a thread dedicated to that process. It'll be a 'deconstruction zone' at first, as we stri...

Re: Gothichome, the restoration of.
Wow! Beautiful progress! Hey...While wasting time in my usual fashion (perusing online auctions) I came across this perfect, non-re-wired parlour oil lamp fixture, and thought of you. It's in Port Perry. Have a look... Mal

Time Running Out! Nice Sheraton sofa at auction!
I know this isn't the best location for this post but it may be read here sooner. I recently bought a very well made Sheraton repro stretcher-base sofa at auction. Paid $3.85 all in. It's been cat scratched but I plan to reupholster anyway. Anyway, I saw another one at a Maxsold online auction in Ma...

Re: Repainting cupboard that has lead paint for use in kitchen
Nice!!!!! Lead paint is safe if encapsulated with another layer of paint. And honestly...if you have young'uns chewing on the furniture, then I'd chalk it up to Darwinism.

Re: What I did at my house today...
Today, I did something FOR my house, rather than at. Hubby and I have been discussing an addition to the left side of the stone part of the house. We flipped back and forth as to whether to go stick-frame, or try another antique log structure. I guess I sort of decided the outcome, because this morn...

Thanks. I know that hand-scraping is the slow-mo method for a floor, lol. But no dust. BTW, love the polychrome artistry you are doing with your lighting. I guess patience is an old houser's trademark.

Re: What I did at my house today...
Phil, he's half samoyed and half collie or sheltie. Great dog, a rescue from an organization we help with. We just got him, 5 yrs old and still full male. (changing that status soon, he's hosing the place down daily) I've used drum sanders on oak before but I like the unevenness of these old boards....
