Re: 1920's-ish indoor trim colours?

My trim, from 1914, is painted bald cypress. Someone stripped it sometime along the way, (maybe Phil owned this house at some point ) but they really f*ed up the walls taking the baseboards off to strip, and then used gobs of caulk in place of where the broke the plaster to hell. For all the shit wo...

Re: Lucky dining room table find

Great find! It's a Regency/Federal style table, which were very popular up to the 1940's, even though Regency is an 18th century style. The chairs aren't a technical match but they look great anyway.

BTW, nice floor. Is that white oak?

Re: Victorian curtains

Re: Paint on Brick

My 2 cents ... if the brick is a solid exterior wall, which it looks to be, I would not paint it unless I could find a moisture permeable paint. Moisture is absorbed by the brick and the mortar and it has to have a place to go. I suspect a lot of painted brick will be cracking in the near future, or...

Re: Find du jour - can you identify it?

I would have guessed a Scale Weight: m m But that would not explain how it got in the wall. Chris Scale weight is a possibility, particularly as it looks like it has been adjusted to a particular weight (drill point in bottom). I get quite a b it of stuff in my walls (as per previous posts), largel...
