Re: Eye Candy
Selling old houses isn't all that bad. Since I work for a "boutique" real estate firm and that's all we specialize in, I tend to meet like minded people and that's why I love my job. I do agree that many people don't love old houses the way we do and usually don't see the potential. Every ...

Re: Help! Mortise Lock question
Chris- That was my thought exactly with this lock. From messing with it, it seemed like I could turn the key in the deadbolt and it would make the knob unlatch. Therefore, making me think that I'd need the key anytime I walked out the door and shut it behind me and I all could think about was how ma...

Re: Help! Mortise Lock question
Thanks for advice. I believe I'm just going to abort this mission and try something new. Our local salvage didn't have an entire mortise lockset but maybe if I can just find the guts of a smaller on I can still use the hardware I bought? I think the door will need to be trimmed down a little on the ...

Re: Help! Mortise Lock question
Thanks! You'd think being a realtor, who mainly sells historic homes, I would have seen something similar by now but nope! That is the door I'm attempting to use. Found it on Craigslist for $25 so I figured what the heck, I'd give it a try! Here's a better pic after I got done stripping it but befor...
