Re: Filling a hole with rubble vs dirt

Thanks!! - The loading on line lines was something I hadn't even considered, but that makes total of sense (dorkily, I'm always excited to hear the logic behind things). The lines are primarily running vertically through the hole (Coming out and up to the meters) with one running horizontally (comin...

Filling a hole with rubble vs dirt

Hi All - I have a hole (former maybe window well? access hatch?) approx 3'x3'x4' deep, that used to have a wooden panel on one side which led to our cellar. The the golem was emptied of all the crap that was in it, the wood panel was taken out (rotted), and the cellar opening was walled up with slee...

I couldn't find a good picture online, but I'll try to snap one next time I'm downtown. Warehouses ...

Re: What I did at my house today...

Well, not me, but my wife and kids painted the kids' room. Historically, it's radically inaccurate, but one step closer to the kids having their own space and us having our (larger, prettier) library/guest room back.

Re: repointing front facade - what terrible things am I doin

They're not super neat, and the joints are very narrow (and somewhat irregular), so there is a fair amount of crap that gets on the face of the bricks (more than none, though it's not like they're just tossing mortar everywhere). They are using a colored mortar that is pretty close to the color of t...

Re: repointing front facade - what terrible things am I doin

Just an update - it's underway, it's not terribly pretty, and I'm a little annoyed/disappointed. However, it also doesn't look like it's going to be really horrible, and it will keep the bricks on the house where they belong.

So... just sort of meh. Ah, well.

I'm pretty sure they're a harder brick than the older powdery ones, but I'll take a look again today. Is there an easy way to tell?
