Re: A decades-overdue paint job commences
Thanks. The green can look decent in pictures, but it’s appalling in real life. And it was poorly painted previously, anyway. We had weeks of major carpentry before painting could even between. In the end, there will be five colors on the house, and even if we sold in six months, which we don’t plan...

A decades-overdue paint job commences
I don’t get to post or participate nearly as often as I’d like.
However, I think everyone here will enjoy this:

Haha. We figured a dedicated pot was the way to go. And yes, wherever we have original hardware, it is of that Eastlake type, although it has been stripped out in some places. In most spots, it is simply thickly painted over. We have very few original doorknob assemblies, sadly.

Re: Starting small
Tsp is, by all accounts, effective, but I do have some concerns about the possibility of it being a carcinogen. They also say it can mess up the finish of some things. I'm probably going to save it for suspected lead paint on wood. Or invest in Ledizolv.

Well, it all seems so far so good! If there are any stubborn specimens, I will definitely give the tsp a try.

Re: Starting small
It does feel good, doesn't it? I didn't use tsp, although given the likelihood of lead paint here, I probably should have. It was just warm water, but I did read that some people will add a touch of dish soap to the mixture.

Starting small
I'd hoped to be more active (both at working on the Easton Queen Anne AND here on this forum), but twin toddlers and life in general are keeping me busy. That being said, we started on the first of one of our passion projects, restoring some of the beautiful door hardware that's been repeatedly pain...

Gothic home, all we are waiting for it's for me to get down there with the shop vac and make it a tolerable place to be. TX Ranger, As far as the arch, we think it's probably for the stove, or at least a stove, one that is no longer there. Probably original.

Re: Sad carrots
Pretty much. It certainly helps with meal planning for the next couple of days. But what good is a cold pantry that freezes its produce? Maybe we need to partially insulate it.
