Re: Baby steps towards the future gardens of Beebe

The weather patterns this year have been a mess for our kitchen crops. We're still trying, and some things are still growing, but I'm starting to accept we may not get much edible bounty this year. :-| Because of the side work I've been trying to pick up for much needed funds, I've not has as much f...

Re: Beebe -- our 1935 Bungalow on Baker Street.

Aaannnd Sean was lied to again about how soon he'll be going FT. He is understandably unhappy, and honestly...his spirit is a bit crushed. I have been feeling helpless because I have run out of ways to try to cheer him up and none of them are working well if at all. He keeps threatening to lo...

Re: Rock lath patching after rewiring

I'm so sorry it has taken me so long to get back to y'all! Most of the holes are now filled, and I started to skim coat today! It was an incredible feeling! Folks that have been here long enough are a patient lot because they know how easy it is get wrapped up in house projects on top of other day ...

Re: Retriever Ridge

Out of curiosity, does any of the brick have old factory stamping?

If we do ever move the side door, I'm hoping we can salvage some (ideally most) of the materials to the side overhang and small porch. I hope most of the wood turns out to be sound from your decking.

Re: Introducing "Pumpkin's Castle"

Sounds like great progress. Very nice fixtures. I don't think I've seen wall sconces with that thick of a metal shade holder profile before. Love the detail on it.
I also admire wood grain, so I'm looking forward to seeing the crown when it's been stripped and stained.

Re: Baby steps towards the future gardens of Beebe

Lily, a little bit of creative carpentry and it will look good as new. No need to repaint. Are you nurturing monarchs once again this year? I've started going through my scrap wood pieces looking for suitable replacement bits. I had asked my Floor Manager what color he wants the trellis. Purple. Wa...

Re: Baby steps towards the future gardens of Beebe

I should add, I was a shade disappointed that the color was from paint, not the wood's color. Not sure what color we might paint it in the future. Not even sure what kinds of stain might be good for outdoors if we go that route instead. Suggestions welcome on that.

Re: Baby steps towards the future gardens of Beebe

I say yank. You'll be doing yourself and everyone around you a favor. English ivy is a beautiful container plant or at least when contained but it's too badly behaved to let it go wild in the landscape. Good luck with the trellis; it sounds like a nice one. Do you have plans for what you would like...
