Thanks Jade for confirming that typically the putty is facing the exterior, and that it's a good idea to put in the points. Always good to have the confirmation that I'm on a good path before taking the next step.

Re: Please help me figure out these basement storm windows
Well, after posting my question and then looking at the storm sash again, I suddenly realized that they must be in the right orientation, because the angle at the bottom of the storm matches the angle of the sill. (See -- just posting the question got my brain working. I am still curious though -- w...

Please help me figure out these basement storm windows
Hi all, I'm trying to figure out why my basement storm window appears this way, which seems contrary to what I would have expected from previously working with my double-hung windows. I have a feeling that the basement storms were put in backwards (?), but because saying that will cause a huge discu...

Welcome Nancy! What a sweet looking house! It reminds me of ones that I used to walk past in my daily walks when I lived on the SF peninsula.

Yes, thanks Mick!
I don't expect to have preserved site-based bookmarks, that would be miraculous! Just having the text for full-text searching would be awesome.

Re: Spammers !!! New wavyglass warning
Hi Mick, thanks for pursuing this! I haven't been following this thread closely, and realized the other day that I had bookmarked some topics over there that I wanted to review the info. It would be great to have the page information archived somehow. Even if a giant zip file on Dropbox someplace. -...

Re: Wait time after blopping? And primer recommendations?
Thanks Jade! Thank you very much for the details about the times and the ben moore oil primer. It helps so much to plan out my days, application/drying, especially when I have to work around my day job on the weekdays. And thanks for adding the point about the wiping off the excess that does not qui...

Wait time after blopping? And primer recommendations?
Hi all, My apologies if this is a repeat. Even though I tried some searching on the site here, and then also google, I must not have done a good enough query. (And google's hits are mostly to wavyglass, which end up in "problem loading page". No cached versions, sigh. ) We've gotten an ext...

Re: Ques re trimming exterior putty line during clean-up after skinning over
Thanks Jade , and especially for pointing out that point about the angle needing to shed water. I like having background facts like that. It helps me remember why to do doing things a certain way -- and why to *avoid* doing other things.

Re: Ques re trimming exterior putty line during clean-up after skinning over
Hi Mick, thanks for responding!
Yeah, I figure you're probably right that it might make too much of a mess to try. While I think I can live with most of the sides, it's the bottom line of the upper sash that might annoy me the most (because that'll be right at my eyeball height).
Thanks again!
