Re: The Free Cabinet That Got Away...

WOW! I'd love to have that to put in my 1870's kitchen. I have lots of wall cabinets from 1938, but free standing cupboards are great in old kitchens. I really hope the person who got it uses it well.

Re: Antique flatlining

I know how it feels to flatline in the antique world. I love to go to every place I see to search for treasures. I especially love furniture. Alas, I am forbidden to purchase any more furniture. Our 15 room house is full. By full I mean, it's not overflowing, just right amount of furnishings for eac...

lincrusta

Anyone out there put up lincrusta ? I'm getting ready to put it in my dinning room, and hopefully down the upstairs hall, down the stairwell and into the foyer. I've read as much about hanging it as possible. Would love to hear from anyone who's actually hung lincrusta.

My friend is a programmer for Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. This is his work computer. So, I can't figure out how to post pics from this machine. Mayb...

Re: the Nut House

I hope to post pics on New Years day. I will have time and energy that day. The new porch posts are up and steady. Looks good out the back door. Never thought the roof supports were ever going to be taken down, (they were up for four years).
Happy New Year to all of you !

Re: Not sure what we got ourselves into!

I don't know when the practice of putting blueprints in a newel post began or stopped. Just know it happened . 1918 Colonial Revival....I've found things like that inside of walls. Never uncapped a newel post though. When I was but a wee child, my daddy found great treasures hidden in the walls of o...

Re: Not sure what we got ourselves into!

Blueprints............can be difficult to locate. I found out something strange about blueprints and original owners of the houses. Lots of owners dropped the blueprints into a newel post before the cap was put on the post. Lots of people have found blueprints for their house in a newel post, becaus...
