Looks beautiful! I love that light. Our kitchen is about that same shade of green, too.

Re: How do you fill the gap when you pull a window?
Yeah, I can definitely appreciate the need for caution in general and all that, but the sign just seemed to cause confusion among the neighbors. “Wait, you’re JUST painting? We thought something bad had happened!”
It was a bit amusing to live in the POISON house for a while.

Re: How do you fill the gap when you pull a window?
I love your idea, Phil, but bedbugs may not be threatening enough. I'd keep it vague: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4549/37728734754_646fee2c71_b.jpg Quarantine by James McInnis , on Flickr We recently had our house repainted, and due to the lead exterior paint, the painters put up this caution ta...

Re: 10ft farm table!
This might not suit your needs at all, but perhaps instead of replacing the casters, you might want to consider using some of those glass furniture caster cups. I know House of Antique Hardware carries then in clear and green glass.

Re: Beautiful Period Inspired Pillowcases
Just beautiful! I have to admit I love to go on Etsy and drool over some of the vintage monogrammed sheets for sale there. Maybe someday I’ll start a collection—I don’t even mind if the letters aren’t mine!

Re: Opinion Question: Remove the storm door?
Mick, it's funny--I had already been trying to convince my DH that we should install a portiere (with one of those fancy rising rods) but he's unconvinced. He's probably worried that it would collect dust and cat hair and become an allergy bomb for him. That said, after installing some v cushion wea...

Re: A New Old House
Nothing of value to add except that this home is just darling! Of course it has some oddities and some odd aesthetic choices (like the yellow hallway) but I think you really have a great little house there.

Re: Opinion Question: Remove the storm door?
Update: so after much weighing of pros and cons, and turning it over in my mind, I finally just got impulsive and took the storm door off the frame. The frame is still in place, for now, but it will need to come off soon too. I will admit: the front hallway is much, much colder now. There's a defini...

Re: Blocking up basement walls
Thanks for the ideas, all! I had initially thought about stuffing insulation or something into the gaps, but went back and forth on the feasibility. I think you've talked me into it--I can just use a bit of duct tape to secure things if needed. And Phil, believe me, if it was any other cat then I wo...

Blocking up basement walls
Hi all, So, for a variety of reasons that aren't worth getting into, we're thinking of turning our attention to our basement, and making the space more generally usable and comfortable to be in--although it's already halfway there, since it has a concrete floor and heating/AC vents. It would never b...
