Re: What would you do with this door

could that door be installed with double hinges? Phil Yes Phil - the door has the double hinges still attached - so the door would swing both ways. Very astute of you to notice, not that I am surprised since you are so detail oriented! I can't imagine what type of heavy duty screws it would take to...

Re: Window beyond repair - volunteers?

I managed to get the window put back together using the bottom rail from a salvage sash we had in the attic. Not the work of a great craftsman but it looks pretty darn good and it works! I can't say enough about how well Naval Jelly works for cleaning up the old hardware; soaked, scrubbed, soaked, s...

Re: What would you do with this door

Great comments and questions! If I had backed-up just a few more inches on the first picture you could see the door that separates the dining room from the pantry - it is open in the picture, so you are looking through that doorway from the dining room into the pantry. It is a normal door with a loc...

Re: What would you do with this door

I would be tempted to put it back we’re it belongs O2. My other suggestion would be send it to me, third option, just send me the eastlake door pushes. All options are appreciated ! The door push plates are divine! And the pic shows the less attractive side. One additional complications is that our...

Re: Crown Molding and Chair Rail Ideas needed. I need MORE HELP!!!!!

I consider myself to severly challenged in the decorator's "eye" department - but I have to say I think either of your thoughts are great solutions to the area where your dado steps down (or up, depending on your perception ) If I were forced to vote for one I would probably go with the co...

Re: Sarco putty is still soft, wait to hang windows?

Great thank you; I primed the rabbits (actually I primed the entire frames with oil primer before setting the glass) and then after glazing I covered with latex paint. I was just worried when I noticed the putty could still be slightly dented.
Hopefully they will be up by the end of the weekend!

Sarco putty is still soft, wait to hang windows?

I have 6 storm windows that I made to help protect and "insulate" the 3rd story windows. They were glazed 2 weeks ago with Sarco type M, then I have been painting them this past week. With the double hungs I restore I haven't worried about hanging them even if the putty was still somewhat ...
