Re: Bought it ! Now for new paint color ideas.
My personal preferences, using Vala's samples, are: Pic 1: Row 1 #30 Row 2 #115 Row 3 #s 130, 81, 94 Pic 2: Row 3 Vandyke Drab There are some gorgeous historic houses around here with those types of colors, and light colored detail like you currently have on your trim, and I drool over them. I want ...

Re: Lincoln Funeral Hearse by Blue Ox Mill
Neat! Thank you for sharing! I actually met Mr. Staab and his son several months ago. They were hoping to bring the hearse and train car to Indianapolis for the National Funeral Director's convention - I'm not sure if they raised enough money, but I hope to see it in October. Absolutely lovely peopl...

Re: Addition opinions
Something very interesting about the stairs, though. There is one bricked in window, where the staircase is. I thought that was the only casualty when they moved the stairs there in 1901. I didn't notice that the upstairs window looks boarded up from the outside. That window was also lost to the sta...

Re: Addition opinions
Phil, your suggestion has strained my brain. I have been trying to figure out how to accommodate our needs with a separate addition, and alas, I don't think it's going to work for us I hadn't thought about the stairs falling victim to inspection from the addition we want to do. I wonder if there is ...

Re: Hex Tiles
There are others I like, but not sure if they are historic patterns. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/2d/3f/2f/2d3f2ff8288b69d81a68bdecf7f8643e.jpg https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/c1/e7/3e/c1e73e2de045e62a5a8286f6d62c3738.jpg This one looks nice with white grout, probably won't wi...

Re: Hex Tiles
I did a lot of research on suppliers - there are a couple. American Restoration Tile is where I found these - click on 'shop pics.' They seem to be one of the well respected vendors. I was told by phone that costs range $23-32/SF. Don't bother emailing, just call with the photo number to get a price...

Re: Hex Tiles
What do you think about these patterned tiles below? I am a total sucker for them. First is $29/SF and second is probably between that and $32. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/6a/6a/16/6a6a16943c335a49386870be111e4200.jpg https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/03/07/14/030714e7e36b7832b...

Hex Tiles
Cart way before the horse here. I have a few areas I will need to tile in the house (12x13 laundry/pantry room, new master bath, and existing upstairs bath). Penny round or hex are good choices, yes? Do I have to stick to white? I'm less purist and more pinterest, but want to make good decisions. I ...
