Thanks! I'm glad I could help.
I have to use Photoshop (CS3) fairly regularly at work.

Re: Craftsman paint scheme dilemma
I took a few minutes during my break this morning, (OK, maybe a little more than a few minutes ) and did a little image editing. I didn't work hard selecting a specific color, (I didn't even use the same color on each image) I just wanted to give an idea of what tone I had in mind. If you like, I co...

I envision a darker beige; sort of a midpoint between the white and the dark brick. I'm still not sure about the black drip-edge, but I do understand that you're trying to minimize the white.

Re: Old house lovers vs. the world
This thread always stays in the back of my mind. As the original poster, who hasn't replied since page 1, I feel like I abandoned this thread. But I've been reading! I'm thinking I might start a sort of Gardner old house blog, and each month I'd post up info about whatever home, with history bits I...

Re: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!
I feel like I've completely ignored your advice Lily, but I appreciate that you took the time to give it, anyway. I left one pair of red and green lights where they were. I moved the other pair of lights out as far as the extension cords would allow, and that helped reduce the shadow some, without d...

Re: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!
Are they textured/gobo floods, or is the lens of your camera misty? I'm trying to figure how you managed the mottling effect. Without knowing what sort of floods you have (I'm guessing they don't have shutters to narrow the beam.) what I'm thinking is not worry about upstairs and let the candles in...

Re: It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!
BUMP! Well, Thanksgiving 2016 has come and gone, so today, I started decorating. This is the first year I don't have a huge pine tree obscuring the front of the house. In previous years, I'd always try to light up the tree with colored flood lights. But this year, I can use them to light up the fron...

Re: How tall is too tall - kitchen cabinets
Your butler's pantry doesn't have any original cabinets? Based on what I remember of everything else you've shared about your house, TexasRed, here is what I'd do: (just my preference, and not necessarily what everyone would/could do) I'd mimic the look, and expand to the whole kitchen, the look of ...

Re: Um...bedroom sconces??
Personally, I think the 2nd example, the one you think looks like a bathroom light, would work fine in the bedrooms. This is probably one of the reasons why Nicole Curtis likes to stage with antiques. She'd put antique vanities/dressers with mirrors near these fixtures, to demonstrate to potential b...

Re: Um...bedroom sconces??
All four bedrooms in my house have sconces. I think they were added in the late 20s or early 30s, because--as you'll see--some are kind of art deco. The first two--the most deco ones--are almost the same, just different colors: (I should take new photos of them, because, after washing them, and remo...
