Re: The bungalow project

Before getting to your last paragraph, I was going to point out all of that white. ;)

Re: c1900 cabinet knobs

My dining room cabinet, with leaded glass doors, has a latch that looks a lot like this:

Re: Fridge placement dilemma opinions welcome

I hate to see that done to original cabinets, but I understand where eclecticcottage is coming from. And, I'd rather see this, than to have the house sold to someone who would rip out the entire bank of cabinets. It's also likely that, since they're painted, whoever bought it wouldn't think twice ab...

Re: Craftsman paint scheme dilemma

I like that. Part of the idea was to try to draw out the detail work/trim (what was left white). With it all white, it kind of ended up buried, in fact, the neighbors across the street who have lived there 30 or so years didn't even know that it was there! I'm not sure how to just paint the inside ...

Re: Craftsman paint scheme dilemma

Another neighbor also solved the reason it was left and the locks on the doors-the children that inherited it made it a rental, possibly a rooming house. I meant to add this to the last post, but forgot. Do you have a college nearby? My neighborhood is just a 5-10 minute walk to the campus of Young...

Re: Craftsman paint scheme dilemma

I am really stuck with this. Usually I am good with color, but trying to work with the existing white that I can't remove is really throwing me off. I need to bring out the details being lost in the blob. The columns on the porch have nice detail moldings in the middles, etc-but you can't tell by l...

Re: Blocking up basement walls

If you fill the openings with mineral wool panels, you'd also be adding some fire stopping to your walls.

Re: Our long lost people - Old house web

RosemaryT posts on the City-Data forums, but I don't think she owns an old home, anymore.
