Re: Hello from the soggy state!

Sorry I missed these last replies... thank you Neighmond and Don! Now that we've had them in use for a little while, we're so glad we put these doors in. We have 3 pugs and one of them is a little instigator every time she sees headlights drive by through the front doors... which then gets the other...

Re: Hello from the soggy state!

Thank you, Kansas. Closest thing to pocket doors as we could do given the space. The doors were in remarkable shape. Just cleaned them and went over it with some Howard's (LOVE that stuff!). We still wonder how many decades they spent hidden inside the wall behind the trim work... and WHY.

Hello from the soggy state!

Thanks Gothichome! I figure the house they came out of wasn't Victorian and we're more of the Craftsman type so that's ok Plus the door hardware is stamped from "The Seattle Hardware Company" and ironically, our entry doors are the original front doors to the Seattle Hardware Company build...

Re: Hello from the soggy state!

I held onto these things for 6 months trying to think of a spot to use them... then the lightbulb appeared over my head... we had the PERFECT spot! That 7' to 8' ceiling transition between the dining room and living room already had a solid beam for a mounting surface for the track AND I never reall...

Re: Hello from the soggy state!

It would be a pain and a trick to make that jump of 1'. What does the finished product look like--provided you have updates on that "older picture." Well it's been a while and I think I should post a few of the requested and promised updates regarding some of the areas I posted previously...

Re: Need Name of Neighbour's Contractor on My Property ?

I know that in our area, all permitted work starts with a stipulation that all property lines are defined (this is the homeowner's responsibility). This gives the contractor the boundaries they need to stay within. If your neighbor tells them it's over farther than it actually is... this takes the c...

Re: Hello from the soggy state!

Wow, I would never guess that your present house looked like the original picture. Only the truck, driveway & walk convince me it's the same place! Well done! Thanks, Don! Looking forward to the weather and yard to dry up for Spring. Really want to get started on some landscaping, walkways, etc

I was just relating to KelsieG's original post... finding beautiful oak under layers of paint. That was one of our front doors after I removed the brass kickplate.

Re: Foundation Waterproofing and Property Line Questions

By "attached Victorian" I believe you're saying that you and your neighbor share the same larger structure, foundation, just that each of you own your own half (much like a townhouse or duplex). If so, whatever method they're utilizing to waterproof their portion of the foundation sounds l...
