Re: Last weeks project.
I absolutely love that screen door. at work we have a machine that can cut steel plate with a CNC cutting torch. the thing will cut something like that out in a couple of minutes any thickness up to about an inch. It would be so neat to send that image to it and see it making more like it. Im not s...

Re: Last weeks project.
Thanks to everyone for your comments on the front porch. It's one of my favorite spots. The porch really came together better than I expected. I have wanted one of those heron door inserts for ever and bought it as soon as I found it. Then a few days before he built the door, I really was second gue...

Re: Front door design
My catalogs start around 1905 and while there were still Queen Anne doors being sold then, none looked quite like this. I would guess it's 1880s to maybe 1900 at the latest. I would definitely keep it. Hard to tell from the pic - is there any original hardware left on it? I posted pictures a few co...

Re: Front door design
When the door comes off to be refinished, I also have to figure out a way to get the caulking out of the key hole.

Re: Front door design
We did not save that screen door. The door had serious issues from being exposed to the elements for so long and the roof leaking directly in front of it. We considered saving it, but after looking at the pieces that needed to be replaced, it would have ended up a being a brand new door. However, I ...

Re: Last weeks project.
It is. He built that the same week. I love it when a week off means a week of work on the house. haha. But I still need to prime and paint it.
