Re: Merry Christmas

NH, yes a very nice tree, and a steamed pudding. When was the last time any one made a proper true steamed pudding! I certainly don’t know. Is there an English aspect to your household? Jamie, your tree too is very nice and real candles as well, very nice indeed. An appropriate tune on your music b...

Re: Insulation under floorboards/in crawlspace

I might suggest she go on Green Building Advisor's forum and post her question there. Martin Holliday that runs this as part of Fine Home Building is very knowledgeable. He can give a detailed plan to implement that will be effective in her region. They were helpful to me in my far northern region w...

Re: What's happening in your garden?

Yes. I was startled to learn that they could grow here because the best blueberries I've had were from Maine. As it turns out blueberries are native to eastern North America and the species in the north is Vaccinium corymbosum while the species in the south is Vaccinium ashei AKA "Rabbiteye blueber...

Re: Curtain fashions circa 1905 - 1915

The curtains came in today. We love them, but the valance had a slight dip in the center when cut, so they have to be fixed. Also I had to order a sheer for closer to the glass as the curtains are too see through for nighttime bathing. We love the quality of the fabric and the uniqueness of the patt...

Those are some very nice sash you used for privacy. Finding a curtain that was Arts and Crafts and that offered the level of privacy was challenging. We ended up ordering some through Cooper Lace in an oak leaf and acorn pattern. I'll post pics of the finished room when they are installed.

Re: Curtain fashions circa 1905 - 1915

I know this post is 5 years old, but it came up in my search for mission style curtains. I have quite a few curtain styles bookmarked for my wife and I too review. It's the last piece in her tubroom with long floor to ceiling windows privacy is not there....lol. One more room after this and the plac...

Wow those tulips are gorgeous. My wife is trying to grow them, but the deer love tulips as a meal. We have to spray deer repellent on them each week. They love lilies too. I planted two Haskap(Honeyberries) next to my blueberries this past week. I'm very excited to get them going.

Re: 1920's? Strange Lamp Finds

I thought they were kind of interesting as I had no clue on the use, so I had to have a few. The dump always has treasures to behold.

Re: What's happening in your garden?

The gardens are waking up here, so the Grampa Otts will be busting out of the ground soon enough. The veggie gardens are largely planted except for the tomatoes. We still have ice under the barn, but with luck it'll be melted by June.
