Re: Repairing old porch spindles

@Matt, Because some have rotten all the way to the first turn cut a Dowel is going to be the only way I think. Great advise on the glue. @George, Will do. We love our home and Natchez, it is sad that so many wonderful homes have fallen into disrepair. Natchez also has a problem with qualified contra...

Repairing old porch spindles

My wife and I are currently repairing the porches on our 1892 Vic, many of the spindles have rot on the lower section. If I cut this off and add a new piece of wood onto it what would be the best method?

Ben Moore super spec paint

Has anyone had problems with BM super spec paint fading fast? I was told that it doesn't hold color well.

Best airless paint sprayer

For any of you that have bought and used an airless painter Iwould like to hear some reviews. I'm preparing to start exterior painting and would like to buy one.

Care to share any tips and lessons learned when you painted yours. I also plan in picking up an airless painter.

Re: How to Make a Steam Box/Cabinet

I do not believe my windows have been reglazed since the house was built in 1892. It falls out fairly easy most of the time. The few pains of glad I have broken was due to previous home owners adding caulking and silicone to the old glazing.

Re: How to Make a Steam Box/Cabinet

I am in Natchez, ms. Anyone on the forums in the area? If so I have 300' of scaffolding I can lend out.

I was able to find a jiffy steamer on Craigslist. I think I'm going to give this a shot.

Thanks

Re: How to Make a Steam Box/Cabinet

Glad to be here thank you. I don't believe there are any dip shops/guys in my area. I have used the hot method before after completly disassembling a spandrel, the results were ok but I'm hoping to find a way that doesn't require disassembling. The steam box seemed like a possible. As well for shutt...
