Re: Sink re-glazing?

Thanks Don! I think I forgot to mention that the house, and therefore the sinks, have been in the family for 90 years! The original clawfoot tub is in decent shape, so it will be re-used without any work beyond painting the outside. Timeless Materials in Waterloo recommend "Armored Touch" ...

Goodbye old house

So, we sold our 1914 Toronto house. I'm really going to miss it! If anyone wants to see the fully staged photos, it seems to still be the featured listing on our agent's website, at least for a little while longer: m The weekend after it sold, we had a big "house-cooling" birthday party fo...

Re: Please help - window restoration Southern Ontario?

I assume it was Hoffmeyer's too, but they don't restore windows - they do beautiful replacements.

Jamie Stowe works out of Hamilton, so he's convenient to most of Southern Ontario.

Re: Sink re-glazing?

Thanks folks! They are definitely interested in re-glazing, even if it's a bit pricey. The two sinks are both ones that are original to the house, and the homeowners are nostalgic about the bathroom sink I posted. The other is a tiny corner sink that their grandfather had installed in a little "...

Re: Please help - window restoration Southern Ontario?

I just wanted to resurrect this thread long enough to say that we did use Jamie Stowe, from Hamilton, for the windows in the house I own (which is oddly enough not the house I was asking for the first time). He did an AMAZING job and I'm thrilled with the result! The sashes are all fully restored, c...

Sink re-glazing?

I'm helping out with an old house reno (long story which I will hopefully have time to tell sometime!). We have two old cast-iron bathroom sinks that we'd like to re-use in the bathrooms. They're both in fairly rough shape, with some rust. I've attached a picture of one of them; the sink is 10 years...

Re: Show me your old windows, please!

Joe, your house is beautiful!

Matt, the side-by-side picture is awesome!

Thank you both!

Here's what we're starting with. This is the back corner of the house:

Re: Please help - window restoration Southern Ontario?

Thanks Jane and lovesickest...

We got the quote, and I met (and had a day-long meeting) with the general contractor today.

I should not have signed up under my real name, because I feel like I can't go into too much detail, or it will come back to haunt me!

Show me your old windows, please!

I need pictures of restored original windows to show my family (embarking on a huge renovation). I have a window guy potentially lined up but they are having a hard time picturing what he is talking about. I would especially love some closeups of old storm windows with top hangers and long hooks and...
