Re: LVL cut in half?
Local codes may vary and I know you are attaching to dimensional lumber, but this link should help w/a 2 ply TRUSSLOK pattern, normally used for attaching 2 LVL's together. m FYI: Subfloor adhesive applied on top of the floor joist before install, or forced in by “caulking the joints” between the al...

Re: LVL cut in half?
If engineered for the span, LVL’s normally never get notched. The cut joint is not supported at all and needs a column with a saddle that go under and up the side of the LVL. You should also address the attachment bolt pattern, because it doesn’t look like it’s close to meeting code.

Re: How much to add interior stairs?
If space is an issue, a spiral stair is a good option. Spiral stair kits are reasonable in overall cost too, when you consider material, installation and finish. A little framing, no walls, no ceiling, no trim, doors, or paint.

Welcome to the District mkeller234
I remember your rear porch and the clever use of screen doors, great job.
You have a pair of nice homes! Our boys would love sledding down the bungalow's driveway.

Re: Painting treated decking
I like stain vs paint for pressure treated deck boards, semi-transparent holds up a bit better than solid stain on new wood. The most common kind of pressure treated lumber is still wet when you buy it. Let the lumber dry out (from a few weeks to six months, depending on the weather, exposure and th...
