Re: Log repair
In a worst case scenario, you can easily mix a custom opaque (or semi-opaque) "stain" made simply from diluted acrylic paint. You just mix your colour, and then thin it down with water. The thinner it is, the more transparent it will be. This will involve trial and error, but the paint can...

Re: Upstairs Bedroom Before & After Photos
Bungalove: The only new (but old looking) light fixtures that are authentic looking seem to be the ones offered by Rejuvenation Hardware, but brace your bank account, because they're pricey. I prefer antique fixtures. They're relatively cheap (this one was around 100$), very well made, and parts to ...

Re: Upstairs Bedroom Before & After Photos
Actually, scratch that idea completely. I'm probably going to do a painted floor cloth. I picture something like this, but likely with browns, reds, gold, or green tones rather than blue. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-3GjRFphPCZA/U67SwQif6rI/AAAAAAAAHgk/on29ZvhX5lI/s800/Floor%2520Cloth.JPG

Re: Upstairs Bedroom Before & After Photos
Yes, I imagined I'd need to do something like this too. I truly hate carpets and rugs though, so I'd appreciate any suggestions. I don't want anything with too much pile, and I don't necessarily want a seagrass mat either.

Re: Upstairs Bedroom Before & After Photos
I'm very pleased with the results. This room will actually serve as my clock repair work space. I need to set-up some shelving and tables and organize everything, but it will be nice to have the work space after having most of my things in storage for over 4 years. The wall colour is actually a colo...

Upstairs Bedroom Before & After Photos
For all of you who aren't following my house blog, I just recently finished a room upstairs, which has been under construction for several years. Parts of the renovations included: - Rebuilding an entire closet/walls separating two rooms. - Removing cheap laminate floor, vinyl tile, linoleum, and pl...

Re: Leaded glass questions
The glass is extra thick in order to be able to cut nice deep bevels. If the panels had been done without the bevels, it would all just be thin glass. Bevelled glass is of course nicer, and more expensive.
