Hey at least your leak was in the yard, ours was in the third floor bathroom which since we don't live there wiped out the second floor bathroom and the ceiling and old wood floors of the living room and dining room. Basically chimneys either have a clay tile flue or they were parged with some sort of masonry plaster and over time those may be damaged or wear out and you need new "lining" to use the fireplace safely. the methods of "RE"lining are either a pull through metal flue or a cast in ...
