Re: Has anyone used Styrofoam Ceiling tiles?
I do plan on scraping off the tissue paper the PO stuck all over the ceiling, and scraping level the mounds where she slopped joint compound trying to fill trenches she dug out of the plaster to run electrical wires. The hardest part will be trying to fill and level where the ceiling was ruined and ...

Re: Basement windows
I have ventilated glass block windows in my basement, and I like them because no one can see in the windows but they still give light and as glass blocks they have some insulation value. you can also get them with a dryer vent insert. My windows on one side of the house are only about 4 feet from th...

Re: Has anyone used Styrofoam Ceiling tiles?
I will be scraping off the crinkled paper and the bumps and so forth before the Styofoam goes up Also need to fill in the are hole from the leak. The ceiling is high enough it should not be getting bumped by things. As for taking them back down, hopefully we won't have to, but if so then the entire ...

Get paint off Glass panes after removal from sash?
The PO of my house basically slopped paint onto the window glass on all the windows, I am wondering what is the best way once I remove the glazing putty and glass, to get the paint off of the glass panes? I once read the soaking them in a tub of soapy water was best but I am not sure, I really don't...

Re: Do you have to paint over Sarco putty?
Ok thanks, I was afraid that was the answer. First phase is to scrape and paint the outside framing of the second floor windows so that new triple track storms can go up, leaving the windows themselves alone for now. We only have a couple weeks to do this phase. Then once I am actually living there,...

Has anyone used Styrofoam Ceiling tiles?
We have still not repaired the ceiling damage from a leak and our living room ceiling even before the leak was a mess. I did not want to take down all the plaster and make that kind of a mess. SO, I believe we can solve the problems by patching the hole, scraping the crinkled paper mess the PO put u...
