Subway tile effect in plaster. Poor finish in a past repair job.
Under what appears to be a very old medicine cabinet (if not the original) is some sad repair work. Built-in soap holder filled. One of possibly built-in two ceramic / porcelain "towel holders / hooks" (?) remain at left. On the upper right: repair possibly to cover up broken / removed companion piece to that on the left. Below that the plaster juts out, repairing what is unknown. Date of repair unknown.
