Re: making flooring into wainscott

there is another tool that has two handles and a large blade for removing bark from trees. Are you thinking of a draw knife? I'll try to look for the tool I mentioned tomorrow and take a picture. Spokeshave sounds familiar now that you mention it. Honestly, there are two "lots" of tools I've not ha...

Re: What's happening in your garden?

Yay, pictures! A few from our garden today before I start more seed starting indoors. I spotted two different crab spiders lurking on open dandelions today, one with its yellow jacket snack. I'm still failing miserably at getting better pictures of them. I've informed my Floor Manager that a...

Re: making flooring into wainscott

how is the tablesaw working? a jointer is often the second major tool. and maybe a decent sander like a random orbital sander. then maybe a thickness planer and an decent upright drill press is nice to have. I use my tablesaw most. you can often do what a jointer does with a had plane, with obvious...

Re: What's happening in your garden?

James , are you planning to eat the calamondin fruit? I loved the Anole/palm picture. I heard they sometimes manage to get indoors, but your neighbors might have already told you. Phil , clover is a natural nitrogen fixer. So if you have to fertilize for other reasons, a 0-20-20 mix is recommended....

Re: Baby steps towards the future gardens of Beebe

Went to a mineral mix group on Sunday. We were originally supposed to meet on Mother's Day, but some of the supplies were late in transit, so this week we met instead. It was my first time doing such, and I did take notes but can't recall off the top of my head what all we used and I don't have time...

Re: making flooring into wainscott

I see tons of free antique furniture, like big dining room tables and such. Im hesitant to go cutting them up because it feels destructive but for example Ive advertised a big table with mahogany veneer and Queen Anne legs, with the three leaves and a nice hand made lace cover a bunch of times. I t...

Re: Unique/interesting lighting styles (plug-in) you search for outside of stained/leaded/slag?

We were lucky in that some of the original fixtures remained here--a mix of Arts n' Crafts and working class bungalow. I'm not the best to advise on homes older than that, so defer to other District members (some of whom have already piped in here.) I'm in the patiently find parts camp, which is par...

Re: Beebe -- our 1935 Bungalow on Baker Street.

Aaannd, because brain fog...forgot to say...because the weather has been warm enough for us to hang out on the porch swing again, I've not been able to ignore a maintenance need that's elevating quickly from "in a year or two" to "soon". Once Sean gets settled into the new post office and gets his u...

Re: Emerson Hadley House

Your new landscape sounds lovely, and I promise not to hold your new home's age against it. ;-)

I hope the addition goes well, and the transition from old to newer is a smooth one. I'm sure you'll share pictures when time allows. Moves are always a bit hectic!
