Ohh! You found a tree picture too! I managed to find one of these from my street circa 1955 and can only see a small portion of the porch posts because of the trees. Don't you wish they were out of the way?

What a beautiful home! Lots of work but you're well on your way to restoring it and the work so far is terrific. I'd love to get my hands on a house like yours - keep it up.

When you were researching the history at Service Ontario did you pull the instruments as well (I'm not sure if you can do that there)? I know the local land registry office will have the instruments attached to your title on file. The instrument numbers are in the column on the left side and you hav...

Re: c1906 Triple Brick Victorian
Well I went back to Ontario for a bit and finished the backsplash. Unfortunately, previous owners decided to glue orange melamine to the walls (which absolutely had to go). Tearing it off left a pretty rough surface which would be impossible to keep clean, so tiling was a good option over repairing/...

You have a beautiful house, I love the architectural details. You're very lucky to have original windows and I'm so glad that you took care of them. It looks like you've already done a ton of work on the house especially if it sat vacant for a few years. Welcome.

The attic space is lovely. I like the windows on either side of the fireplace - they just flood the whole room with light. Beautiful home.

Re: c1906 Triple Brick Victorian
So far it seems like there is only one coat of awful black paint on the fireplace and one coat of white on the woodwork. I have heard that acetone works really well to get into the little cracks in the stone, paint stripper seemed to be "ok" with a lot of elbow grease. I actually think it'...
