Re: Are Forums a dying thing?
As someone who joined this forum in the last couple of years and who has also quit Facebook I am SO appreciative of this community! I don’t post a ton, and I am usually the one seeking advice vs giving it right now, but I search the forums often and find the posts here an incredible resource.

Re: Questions as I restore my first window
Ah ok good point. Plenty of old cloth diapers I use as rags lying around so I’ll just use those. And Gothic I can just keep the same chip brush between windows? No worry about combustion if I leave it out to dry?
Thanks all for answering my novice questions!

Re: Questions as I restore my first window
Ok follow up question. BLO and Turp another came in plastic containers. Can I just leave them in the original containers once I open them? My plan is to mix the blopentine in a jar, use a chip brush to apply to the window, and then wipe excess with a paper towel. then put paper towels in a glass jar...

Questions as I restore my first window
Almost to the blopentine and primer stage. Some questions that probably seem obvious… How can you tell if wood is in good shape or if need to give it some extra love. To my eye it looks great but I also have no idea what I’m looking for! I’ve been working in my basement but it does not have good ven...

Re: Replacing porch boards
Thanks all! Painted it the same gray as the rest of the porch-BM Amherst gray. Boy, did I agonize on getting the right color gray. And for once I'm very happy with the color I chose!

You know - there's always the option of repairing only what is urgently needed now and saving the restoration of the individual sashes until the kids are old enough to help! I guarantee it will build character!
